CONCEPT SUBMISSION 2026

CONCEPT SUBMISSION
Theme: Mobilizing Climate Finance into Emerging Markets
Tagus Roundtable is, first and foremost, a community of climate-finance practitioners who
support one another in turning ideas into real-world action. One expression of that community is
the annual Tagus Roundtable in Lisbon, where we come together to exchange ideas, build
relationships, and support promising initiatives.
Each year, we invite a small number of Concepts that we believe can both benefit from and add
value to the Tagus community. Two Concepts are selected for in-depth, off-the-record discussion
during the Roundtable.
What We Mean by a “Concept”
We are looking for ideas that are already somewhat mature, but at an inflection point.
The strongest Concepts typically:
-
Have progressed beyond the purely conceptual stage
-
Are facing two or three credible paths forward (e.g. around structure, capital stack, geography, partnerships, or sequencing)
-
Would benefit from honest, practitioner-level feedback before locking in a direction

Tagus works best when proponents use the forum to:

-
Present real trade-offs
-
Pressure-test assumptions
-
Explore alternative approaches with peers who have “been there before”
What Tagus Is Especially Good At
Tagus adds the most value where:
-
The core challenge is mobilizing capital into emerging markets
-
The solution involves blended finance, funds, guarantees, platforms, or new financial instruments
-
The proponent is seeking thought partnership, not publicity
Because Tagus is private and invitation-only, it allows for:

-
Candid discussion of what isn’t working
-
Real-world lessons from experienced practitioners
-
Constructive challenge in a trusted setting
Community Value & “Sweat Equity”
We are particularly interested in Concepts where:

-
The Tagus community can actively contribute, not just comment
-
There is scope for:
-
Expanding networks
-
Making introductions
-
Advising on structure, governance, or sequencing
-
Providing informal, ongoing “sweat equity” support
-
In practice, this often leads to natural cohorts forming around a Concept, with engagement
continuing well beyond Lisbon.
What We Are Not Looking For
Tagus is likely not the right forum if a proposal is:

-
Very early-stage or purely conceptual
-
A polished marketing pitch seeking visibility
-
A transactional capital raise with a fixed structure
-
A public advocacy or campaigning effort better suited to open conferences
What to Submit
Interested proponents are asked to submit the following by April 3, 2026:

-
Short presentation materials (maximum 2 pages)
-
A brief cover note explaining why Tagus would be a useful forum and what you hope to get out of participating
-
Names of up to two team members who would attend the 2026 Tagus Roundtable if selected
-
Confirmation of availability for follow-on virtual calls, if needed
Submissions should be sent by email to:
